About This Experience
Uganda's Extraordinary Primate World
Uganda is one of the most remarkable primate destinations on earth. With over 20 primate species found across its national parks and forest reserves, no other country in East Africa offers the same depth and diversity of primate encounters and this 11-day tour is designed to immerse you in all of it.
The journey begins in Kibale Forest National Park — home to one of the highest concentrations of chimpanzees in the world. Here you'll track habituated chimpanzee communities through ancient forest, observing their social behaviours, family dynamics, and remarkable intelligence up close. The Kyambura Gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park offers a second chimpanzee trekking experience — a dramatic sunken forest carved into the earth, home to a small and elusive chimp community.
In Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, you'll come face to face with Uganda's most iconic resident, the mountain gorilla. Uganda is home to more than half of the world's remaining mountain gorilla population, making this one of the rarest and most meaningful wildlife encounters on the planet.
The journey continues to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, where the rare and playful golden monkey can be tracked through bamboo forest on the slopes of the Virunga volcanoes. And throughout the tour, the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary (home to 8 different primate species) offers a quieter but equally rewarding primate experience.
From chimpanzees and gorillas to golden monkeys and red-tailed colobus — this is Uganda's primate world at its most complete.
